ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Louise Kearins is a Christian and a woman with a disability and a staunch advocate for people with disabilities. Trained as a Social Worker, she has worked with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including people with disabilities, people with mental health issues, older persons, families and youth, and with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants. She has worked in both Government departments and in the Community sector, including managerial roles, sharing her passion for recovery and hope, encouraging her team to build capacity when working with people and supporting them to achieve their goals in life.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her dogs, swimming, reading books and attends two book clubs monthly. She also loves going for motorbike rides with her husband, karaoke and drinking good coffee with friends.
She writes her story of the struggle to have a child and the lengths she went through to achieve this including IVF, to only end up empty handed. It is a story that tells it like it is without blame and gives hope to those with fertility issues that life is doable and can be fulfilling even without your dream of having a child being realised. It is a useful read for family and friends as it gives insight into the experience that can help you understand how it is from the perspective of the person you are trying to care for and support.
